WHITTIER AREA, California — Rental property owners in unincorporated Los Angeles County can get in-person guidance on the county’s rent registry at a free workshop in South Whittier on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The Department of Consumer and Business Affairs lists the session for 1 to 3 p.m. at the South Whittier Community Resource Center, 10750 Laurel Avenue.

What the county will explain

County housing and tenant-protection staff plan to cover registration of rental properties, corrections to property information, annual registration fees and compliance with county rent stabilization ordinances. The department says space is limited and urges people to register in advance.

The county rent registry applies to qualifying rental property and mobilehome park owners in unincorporated Los Angeles County; not every property in the City of Whittier is governed by the same county requirements. Owners should check the parcel’s location and the county’s coverage rules before assuming that a particular ordinance or fee applies.

What to bring and ask

Before the workshop, owners may want to have a property address or parcel information ready and prepare questions about required registration, documentation, payment deadlines and exemptions. Renters can review the county’s official guidance to understand how the rules apply to their housing.

When: November 19, 1–3 p.m. Where: South Whittier Community Resource Center, 10750 Laurel Ave., Whittier. Cost: Free; advance registration encouraged.
